Bonding

What is it?

Bonding involves using a composite resin to literally sculpt parts of teeth. It can be used a little like plaster of paris to fill in chips, cracks and to reshape teeth.

What is the procedure?

The tooth is first roughened up and prepared. The dentist will then sculpt the resin as required and harden it using a special light and polish it.

How long does it last?

Approximately 8-10 years.

Pros

  • Wide range of uses
  • Cheap and easy to do

Cons

  • Not as long lasting as more robust procedures like crowns and veneers
  • Can stain
